Aboitiz Energy Solutions, Inc. has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with a US energy efficiency company, Davies Energy Systems, Inc., to bring comprehensive energy efficiency technologies and financial solutions to private firms and local governments throughout the Philippines. The venture will reduce consumption for costly energy resources by providing a fully-integrated package offering systems, technologies, and financing to local firms and government entities.

Aboitiz Power Corporation (AP) has launched today the issuance of 5-year and 7-year peso-denominated corporate fixed rate notes worth P3 billion, with option to increase  depending on market demand. The notes will be offered in a private placement to not more than 19 institutional investors.

SN Aboitiz Power Benguet remits P79.5-M to Benguet Province

SN Aboitiz Power Benguet, Inc. (SNAP-Benguet) has remitted to the Province of Benguet P79.5 million as payment of the local transfer tax for its acquisition of the 75-MW Ambuklao and the 100-MW Binga hydroelectric power plants located in the province.

Aboitiz Power’s recurring income in the 1H 2008 up 136%

Aboitiz Power Corporation (AP) ended the first semester of 2008 with a recurring net income of P2.19 billion, a 136% year-on-year growth versus last year’s P926 million. For the period in review, the company had a non-recurring net loss of P122 million due to foreign exchange net losses of P268 million resulting from the revaluation of dollar-denominated loans and placements of some of its subsidiaries and the reversal of a P145 million provision made by an associate company due to an arbitration settlement. This brings AP’s total earnings to P2.06 billion for the period in review, still recording a robust bottomline year-on-year growth of 84%. This translates to an earnings per share of P0.28 for the first semester of 2008.

Aboitiz Power wins bid for Tiwi-Makban geothermal complex

AP Renewables, Inc. (APRI), a wholly owned subsidiary of Aboitiz Power Corporation (AP), won the bid Wednesday (July 30) for the 747-megawatt (MW) Tiwi-Makban geothermal power facilities. The complex is composed of the 289-MW Tiwi plants in Albay and the 458-MW Makban facilities in Laguna and Batangas. The Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corporation (PSALM) had bid out the two power assets as one package.
